I still remember the phase in my life when I thought I was doing everything right for my health. I had swapped out home-cooked meals for vibrant green smoothies and cold salads. My Instagram looked picture-perfect. But my body? It felt anything but. I was bloated, tired, cold all the time, and my digestion was struggling.
I kept thinking, "But isn't this supposed to be healthy?"
Turns out, what works for one person may not work for another – and what works for you in one season of life may not suit you in another.
That's when Ayurveda entered my life like a gentle, knowing friend. Instead of prescribing one-size-fits-all solutions, it taught me to listen.
What Went Wrong?
Too much raw food: According to Ayurveda, raw, cold, and rough foods aggravate Vata and can weaken Agni (digestive fire).
Imbalance with my dosha: As someone with a strong Pitta-Vata constitution, I needed grounding, warm, cooked meals – not icy, light, and astringent foods.
Seasonal misalignment: It was winter in Australia when I was consuming smoothies daily. I was going against nature's rhythm.
What Changed When I Switched to Ayurvedic Eating:
- I started eating warm, nourishing foods like khichdi, lightly spiced soups, and ghee-roasted veggies.
- My bloating reduced significantly, and my skin started glowing.
- I felt more connected to my body, emotions, and hunger cues.
Ayurveda didn't tell me smoothies were bad. It simply asked, "Are they right for you, right now?"
That question changed everything.
If you're struggling despite doing "everything right," maybe it's time to pause and ask: "Is this food truly right for my body, season, and state of mind?"
Let Ayurveda guide you.
